Tesla’s Supercharger expansion slows amid layoffs

Tesla’s Supercharger network expansion has slowed, with new charger installations down 28% from May to August compared to last year, following widespread layoffs in April. The company is now rebuilding its team but faces challenges as it prepares to meet rising demand from non-Tesla drivers, including Ford and Rivian customers. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has pledged to continue expanding the network, with $500m set aside for thousands of new chargers. However, delays and software issues have impacted rollout, potentially increasing congestion at existing Supercharger stations.
