Job scams are on the increase, says Eva Velasquez, president and chief executive of the Identity Theft Resource Center, a nonprofit that helps consumers when their identities are compromised. “We’ve really seen tremendous growth in job scams . . . I think that’s just due to the fact that we fundamentally changed the way we recruit and hire people,” Velasquez said in reference to most job seekers now turning to online platforms for employment.
