THE HR BREAKDOWN

Amazon increases average pay for warehouse workers

Amazon is raising pay for its hourly warehouse workers from around $20.50 to more than $22, and is also adding Prime memberships to their benefits. Logistics chief Udit Madan said the additional $2.2bn investment in pay and benefits is the company’s largest ever. The online retailer also announced that its next Prime Day sales event will be held on October 8th-9th, with Prime members in the U.S. and 17 other countries eligible for discounts on items across all product categories. Other sales events to be held around that time include Target’s Circle Week from October 6th-12th, and Best Buy’s Member Exclusive Sale from September 27th-29th.
